    The Robert M. Fales Health Sciences Library of South East Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC) is a medical library serving all health professionals in New Hanover, Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin and Pender Counties and affiliated health professions students. It is the largest health sciences library within 120 miles.

    Interlibrary Loan

    WHAT IS INTERLIBRARY LOAN?

    If the CFCC Library does not own the book or journal article you need, we will request the item though Interlibrary Loan (ILL) from another library. Reference staff will help you determine whether the book or journal article is available.  Videos and other audiovisual materials are not available from other libraries.  There are sometimes charges associated with ILL of journal articles, so please let us know what amount you are willing to spend for the article.

    HOW DO I GET STARTED?

    ILL request forms are available at the Reference and Circulation desks and staff can help you complete these forms.  Please include as much information as possible on the form (Title, Author, ISBN, name of journal, issue and volume number, etc.) to facilitate processing.

    If you feel confident providing the citation information, you can initiate the process online by filling out a:

    WHEN WILL I GET THE BOOK OR ARTICLE?

    Allow at least 7-14 days for receipt of books.  Journal articles--which are sometimes sent to us by email or FAX--can arrive sooner.  Once an item is received, you will be notified by telephone or email. The lending library sets the length of time materials may be kept (generally two to four weeks) and whether or not the item can be renewed. It's very important to be prompt in picking up, using and returning all ILL materials.
