The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) is the world's first science center devoted entirely to genetics education and is an operating unit of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, an important center for molecular genetics research. The Dolan DNALC, DNALC West, and Harlem DNA Lab extend the Laboratory's traditional research and postgraduate education mission to the college, precollege, and public levels.

The Human Genome Project (HGP) was one of the great feats of exploration in history - an inward voyage of discovery rather than an outward exploration of the planet or the cosmos; an international research effort to sequence and map all of the genes - together known as the genome - of members of our species, Homo sapiens. Completed in April 2003, the HGP gave us the ability to, for the first time, to read nature's complete genetic blueprint for building a human being.

Connections between Tree of Life web pages follow phylogenetic branching patterns between groups of organisms, so visitors can browse the hierarchy of life and learn about phylogeny and evolution as well as the characteristics of individual groups.

Joint venture of the Digital Library Project at the University of California, Berkeley with NatureServe, Declining Amphibian Populations Task Force, Fono Zoo & the Red List of Endangered Species. As of March 2012 the database contained 6,163 literature references, 513 sound files, 105 video files, and 24,265 photos of 3,671 different amphibian species.

NOTE: Other components of the website are contributed by students. These include thousands of species accounts about individual animal species with text, pictures of living animals, photographs & movies of specimens & recordings of sounds. The University does not guarantee the accuracy of these additional components.

A partnership of U.S., Canadian, and Mexican agencies (ITIS-North America); other organizations; and taxonomic specialists, Species 2000 and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).

Contains the names and phylogenetic lineages of more than 160,000 organisms that have molecular data in the NCBI databases. New taxa are added to the Taxonomy Database as data are deposited for them.

Although the earliest specimen was collected in 1769 (Limonia acidissima L., number SV221), the majority were collected in the early 20th century. The Digital Archive shows a small selection of slides present in the Swingle Reference Collection, which consists of 3,200 specimens on over 26,000 glass microscope slides, from 575 plant species.

This information primarily promotes land conservation in the United States and its territories, but academic, educational, and general use is encouraged. PLANTS reduces government spending by minimizing duplication and making information exchange possible across agencies and disciplines.

PLANTS is a collaborative effort of the USDA NRCS National Plant Data Team (NPDT), the USDA NRCS Information Technology Center (ITC), The USDA National Information Technology Center (NITC), and many other partners. Much of the PLANTS data and design is developed at NPDT, and the Web application is programmed at ITC and NITC and served through the USDA Web Farm. BHL also serves as the foundational literature component of the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL)
