The Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians is a group of technicians from varied backgrounds who have come together to realize the formation of a specialty organization specifically for veterinary technicians working in Internal Medicine.

AVECCT is the first organization to be recognized by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (formerly known as the North American Veterinary Technicians Association) as a veterinary technician specialty. Veterinary Technicians who successfully meet the credential requirements and pass the AVECCT examination are designated as Veterinary Technician Specialists (Emergency & Critical Care).

Certification as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anesthesia and Analgesia promotes patient safety, consumer protection, professionalism and excellence in anesthesia care. The Veterinary Anesthesia arena is constantly evolving, thus, the attainment of competence is a continual activity for academy members.

The American Animal Hospital Association is the only organization to accredit companion veterinary hospitals.

AALAS is an association of professionals that advances responsible laboratory animal care and use to benefit people and animals.

The American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians and Assistants (AAEVT) is a sister organization to the American Association of Equine Practitioners and is a separate professional non-profit organization. This Association is a Professional Association and is not for the general horse owning public.

The Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is owned and administered by AAVSB. This computer-based examination is given during three windows each year. The VTNE is constantly updated, reviewed, and re-evaluated item by item so that it remains a valid tool useful in the evaluation of candidates for licensure.

The AVMA is a not-for-profit association representing more than ​88,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services. The AVMA acts as a collective voice for its membership and for the profession.

The Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians (AZVT) is dedicated to all aspects of quality veterinary care in the field of zoo animal medicine.

Association with the goal of allowing veterinary technicians to give input on national issues involving the veterinary profession.

Advocates for the appropriate recognition and utilization of all roles in the Veterinary community-including RVTs, Assistants, students, and support staff; Invests in the future of VMT students by supporting student learning through Continuing Education and scholarships; Continues their involvement in outreach by informing the public about the roles of the whole veterinary team.

Dedicated to promoting integrity and excellence in veterinary medicine; providing the highest quality continuing education programs and conferences; supporting its members through public relations and marketing efforts to the public and governing officials; and listening and lobbying on behalf of the interests to the entire profession and serve as an advocate and voice for veterinary medicine in the state.
