This CD-ROM program, produced at the University of Toledo, is available for 2-hour reserve use in the Library.
Cadaver photos are blended with a layering technique to allow the student to “peel away” layers of the body. Systems included are: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic, digestive, urinary, and reproductive. Users can choose from four views: dissection, animation (of structures and physiological processes), histology (shown in microscopic slides), or imaging (correlating the dissected images with X-rays, MRIs and CT scans). Self-tests can be used to gauge understanding with quizzes and simulated practical exams.
Understanding the Human Body has 52 short video segments that cover the cellular building blocks, architecture of the body, the nervous system, the five senses, blood circulation, respiration and nutrition, and reproduction .
